TNDC SHARES COMMITMENT TO GENDER EQUALITY AND INCLUSION ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. That is the aspiration of International Women’s Day, celebrated March 8th, a global day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and calls for action to accelerate gender parity.

The 2025 campaign theme is Accelerate Action, emphasizing the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done. At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum.

International Women's Day resonates with the core of TNDC’s identity as an Indigenous community-owned business. TNDC is honoured to employ some of the industry's most talented women, in a variety of roles within our project sites and corporate offices, including administrators, operators, frontline supervisors, mid-level managers and senior leaders.

It's a day that echoes our commitment to shattering the glass ceilings in the construction industry – a field where women have historically been underrepresented, making up just 12% of the Canadian construction workforce in 2024. In comparison, 24% of TNDC’s workforce is female, which we are working to elevate.

At TNDC we foster a workplace culture that thrives on safety, respect, equality, equity and inclusivity for our female employees. We are passionate about carving out pathways for women, particularly Tahltan women, providing them with the tools, training and opportunities to grow, develop and ascend within our ranks. Our Tahltan HEO Training Program, now in its third year, boasts almost 100% female participation. Along with our Employee HEO Training Program, demonstrate our dedication to empowering women in the workforce.

By championing these values, TNDC aims to contribute to a more gender-balanced world and inspire change within the construction sector and beyond. We are committed to leading by example, we move closer to a world that values and benefits from gender equality. Together, we are building a future where every woman in our workforce feels empowered, valued and poised to achieve greatness.

TNDC celebrates the strength, intelligence and talent of the women within its ranks and those we regard as friends, mothers, sisters and daughters.
