STANDING TOGETHER AGAINST BULLYING

Today – February 28, 2023 – is Pink Shirt Day, a national day to wear pink to take a stand against bullying. Unfortunately, bullying continues to be a problem in many schools, workplaces, homes and online. This requires us all to foster kindness, acceptance, respect and inclusion for everyone.

TNDC is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful and inclusive work environment for our employees and everyone we work with. To reinforce this commitment, TNDC participates in Pink Shirt Day each year.

On this important day, the TNDC team is taking a collective stand against bullying and being advocates for kindness and inclusivity. We are wearing pink shirts with the message Lift Each Other Up! and having conversations about bullying and harassment.

Notably, this year’s shirt design is from Corey Bulpitt, an internationally recognized Indigenous artist from the Haida Na7ikun-Raven Clan. Bulpitt is known for his graffiti-influenced, Haida-style work.

The History of Pink Shirt Day
Now an international movement, Pink Shirt Day has humble beginnings. In 2007, Berwick, Nova Scotia classmates David Shepherd and Travis Price purchased and distributed 50 pink shirts after a student at their school was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. With that act of kindness, Pink Shirt Day was born. It is now celebrated across Canada on the last Wednesday of February. To learn more, visit www.pinkshirtday.ca.
