TNDC Announces New Board AppointmentsThe Tahltan Nation Development Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of three new directors – Colleen Parker, Feddie Louie and James Dennis – to the TNDC board. The appointments were made by TNDC’s shareholders, the Iskut Band, Tahltan Band and Tahltan Central Government, after a nation-wide search for Tahltan members with the professional skills to advance TNDC’s business efforts and strategic goals in the interests of the Tahltan Nation. “On behalf of the TNDC board and management, I welcome Colleen Parker, Feddie Louie and James Dennis to the TNDC board. Their collective experience, knowledge and skills in the areas of corporate governance, business management and community engagement will be a tremendous asset to the board, complementing the strengths of existing members. Together the expanded board will provide governance leadership to guide TNDC in achieving its community and business goals,” says TNDC CEO Garry Merkel. Colleen Parker is currently the general manager for Yukon Lottery Corporation and previously provided governance and management related services as a private consultant. Feddie Louie, a long-time past TNDC board member and past Iskut band administrator, brings a wealth of governance experience and a strategic community and social wellness perspective. James Dennis, Tahltan Central Government communications officer will bring a youth perspective and support engagement with the Tahltan membership. A strong, experienced and visionary board is essential to ensuring the economic, environmental and social prosperity of TNDC and the Tahltan Nation. The nine member TNDC board requires a skills mix of corporate law, governance, business and financial management, environmental science and communications. TNDC directors serve a two-year term and may be reappointed for additional terms at the discretion of the shareholders. The new directors join a driven and experienced board chaired by Calvin Carlick who has served since 2009 in board member and vice chair positions, and supported by Herbert Henyu, board member since 2012, Vernon Marion, one of the founders of TNDC and board member since 2013, and Jamie Gleason, Norman Day, Riannon Ball who are serving their second terms. They replace outgoing directors Clayton Thomas and Marty Nole. “I look forward to working with the expanded board to deliver on TNDC’s goal to deliver on our mandate to maintain a profitable organization that generates wealth, economic, employment and training opportunities for all members of the Tahltan Nation while adhering to Tahltan values,” Garry says.
