TNDC featured in Industry Media Magazine Aboriginal Business editionTNDC was showcased in the January 2015 issue of Canadian Industry Online (CIO) magazine in its annual Aboriginal Business edition which profiles several Canadian organizations and aboriginal businesses dedicated to the success of First Nations economic development. Titled Tahltan Nation Development Corporation – Economic Strength for Community Development, the profile provides an overview of TNDC, its goals, mandate and service offering. The article also highlights some of the major projects TNDC has worked on in the past and the earthworks and camp services it is currently providing on various projects including Imperial Metals’ Red Chris, Teck’ Schaft Creek, Seabridge Gold’s KSM Project and AltaGas’ hydroelectric projects. TNDC CEO/President Garry Merkel was interviewed and provides insight into the history of entrepreneurship of the Tahltan people which remains the driving force behind the mandate of TNDC today, the business philosophy of the company, TNDC’s strategic growth plans to expand the range of services it provides and its approach to business partnerships. Garry’s quotes include: “Our culture and history relies on the trading corridor in BC and therefore our partnerships and industry relationships have to use resources that are available to us within the province. They need to provide employment and training and economic benefits. Anyone we work with needs to support those aspects in order for us to partner with them.” CIO is published by Industry Media, a Canadian interactive publishing company based in Ontario.
