TNDC Drilling Partner Completes First Project With Expanded Drill Rig Fleet

Geotech, TNDC’s drilling services partner operating in Tahltan Territory, has expanded its fleet of drill rigs with the addition of a remote access helicopter portable sonic drill, and recently completed its first project for SnipGold Corp (SnipGold). The Hydracore Heli-Sonic 4000 (HHS4000) drill is providing a new, efficient method for the investigation of overburden deposits, allowing greater accuracy of field data collection, which is of particular importance to both mining and engineering firms when reviewing deposits as well as planning infrastructure works in Tahltan Territory.

TNDC’s 2017 Annual General Meeting Provides Updates For Tahltan Membership

TNDC held its 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 3, 2017 in Dease Lake, reporting on its business and operational highlights to its shareholders – the Tahltan membership – and hearing their feedback. The AGM was held on the final day of the Tahltan Central Government’s (TCG) Annual General Assembly (AGA), an important gathering of the Tahltan membership held each July long weekend, which brings together members from inside and outside the territory for reports on the Government’s initiatives on their behalf.

Riding For the Recreation Centre

Two energetic TNDC employees tackled the roller coaster terrain of the Telegraph Creek to Dease Lake road on mountain bikes on June 30th to raise funds for the Dease Lake Recreation Centre in the 8th annual Tour de Telegraph bike ride. Freeman Louie, Operations Coordinator, and Hankin Asp Chief Operating Officer, were two of 48 riders, which included Tahltans, CFNR Radio staff, employees from Red Chris, Seabridge Gold and Teck Resources. Local kids joined the ride for the last two kilometres.

TNDC Participates in Dease Lake 2017 Canada Day Celebration

Rain couldn’t dampen community spirits for 2017 Canada Day celebrations in Dease Lake on July 1, which included a parade and social gathering. The theme of TNDC’s float commemorated the history of Tahltan people in the territory and relations with gold rush prospectors and European fur traders, with establishment of Hudson Bay trading posts, which led to development of the 1910 Declaration of the Tahltan Tribe.

Anthony Morrison, Commercial Director, and Claire Smith, Aboriginal Partnerships Manager, of UnitedHealthcare Global Medical (UHGM), gave Dease Lake youth a glimpse into the fascinating career of medical services during a recent visit to the region. Wanting to expose Tahltan youth to different career paths and possibly spark interest in medical services, TNDC invited Anthony and Claire to speak with the high school students, sharing insight into the field and their personal career paths.
